Sideritis Greek Mountain Tea (Herb Ironwort).
Sideritis, Greek Mountain Tea.
What is the Greek Mountain Tea.
Greek Mountain Tea is made using the dried leaves and flowers of Herb Sideritis plants (Ironwort).
The Herb Sideritis is aptly named: the plant used to make it is found on rocky slopes at elevations over 3,200 feet (1000 metres). These plants are hardy flowering perennials that have adapted to survive with little water and little soil. Trying to survive under very difficult conditions the plants of Sideritis develop extremely strong and unique aroma. In Greek “Sideritis” can be literally translated as “he who is made of or has the iron”. The plant was known to ancient Greeks, specifically Dioscorides and Theophrastus.
Ηow to (brewing instructions): Pop a bag in a cup and pour over hot water (95oC). Give it a gentle stir and at least five minutes brewing time. Squeeze the tea bag gently and enjoy it. Sweeten with sugar if you wish.
